About Our Warranty and Guarantees

Our warranty covers a range of health conditions to ensure your kitten’s well-being. We guarantee that all kittens are free from 3 very serious congenital defects for the first 5 years. Additionally, we provide a treatment offer for an uncommon illness called FIP.

This warranty reflects our commitment to delivering healthy, happy companions to your home!

Warranties & Treatment Offerings

Life-threatening Congenital Defect Death and FIP Death warranties apply to the following:

1.      5-year Warranty Offer against death due to one of the following three congenital defects:

a.     HCM, PKD, or PRA Death: The seller guarantees that the kitten’s sire and dam have been DNA tested against and are considered not at risk of having or carrying HCM, PKD, and PRA, as well as 45+ other conditions. A report can be shown at the time of the contract signing.

⬩    A cat/kitten that dies due to any of the above fatal genetic defects within 5 years of the kitten’s date of birth, entitles the buyer to a cat/kitten of the same quality, gender, approximate age, color, and pattern, (up to the age of 1 year), to be chosen by the seller. (see Warranty Rules and Specifics)

⚬     A necropsy report and treatment documentation must be provided to the seller within 120 days of the cat/kitten’s death. (see Warranty Rules and Specifics)

b.    FIP Death: FIP is a rare genetic mutation that some cats carry and can lie dormant until their system is triggered by another common illness called FCoV. Most cats will never get FIP, even if they are diagnosed with FCoV. FCoV by itself is usually a relatively mild gastrointestinal sickness. It is only those cats that have the genetic mutation that can suffer from FIP.

⬩     There is no test that shows if a cat is predisposed to getting FIP or is definitively diagnosed with FIP unless the cat dies of FIP and an autopsy is performed.

⬩     If a kitten from our cattery dies in the first year of life and the death is proven to be the result of FIP, the buyer is entitled to receive a cat/kitten of the same gender, approximate age, color, pattern, and value, to be chosen by the seller. (see Warranty Rules and Specifics)

⚬     A necropsy report and treatment documentation for the cat/kitten must be provided to the seller within 120 days of the cat/kitten’s death. (see Warranty Rules and Specifics)

FIP Treatment Assistance Offer applies to the following:

1.     If, in first year of the kitten’s life, the veterinarian determines to the best of their ability that the cat/kitten likely has FIP and recommends treatment for FIP using GS-441524, the buyer must make the decision as to whether the cost is feasible for them, as this is one illness that insurance companies may not cover.

2.     We want to help you give the kitten the best chance of survival!

a.    FIP Prescription information: GS-441524 was just approved in the USA for the treatment of FIP in 2024, so it is new, and some of my breeder friends have learned that many veterinarians are unaware of its effectiveness, but it must be started just after the first symptoms begin to show. Please reach out if you have ANY suspicion that your kitten has FIP so we can help you learn more and attempt to treat it. We can even call the veterinarian for you to explain the effectiveness of this medication.

⬩     If your veterinarian recommends FIP treatment using the GS-441524 prescription medication, the seller will contribute up to $300 toward the cost of the treatment. (see Warranty Rules and Specifics)

⬩     The seller must be notified of the illness within 24 hours of diagnosis and treatment must start immediately.

⚬     All medical records, invoices, and prescription receipts must be submitted to the seller within 14 days of the start of treatment.

⚬     If applicable, insurance payout documentation is required and the amount covered must be submitted to the seller within 90 days of diagnosis.

⚬     The total cost of treatment, minus any insurance payouts will determine the final amount the buyer will receive, not to exceed $300.

⚬     Payment will be made no later than 90 days after diagnosis and successful treatment is verified by the seller.

b.    Upon GS-441524 treatment verification and subsequent survival of FIP, the seller will contribute in the form of a rebate, up to $300 toward prescription costs. If the kitten dies of FIP, despite being treated with GS-441524, the buyer will receive another kitten in lieu of monetary payment.

Warranty Rules & Specifics

Congenital Defect Death Warranty, FIP Warranty and Treatment Offer Rules and Specifics are as follows:

1.     In the event of a cat/kitten’s deathwithin due to one of the above congenital defects (HCM, PKD, PRA) or the illness FIP, the buyer is entitled to receive another cat/kitten under the following stipulations:

a.    The Congenital Defect Death Warranty covers HCM, PKD, and PRA death from the date of birth through the cat’s 5th birthday, or cattery closure, whichever comes first. Upon cattery closure, all warranties will be null and void on the date of closure regardless of cat’s age.

⬩     In order for the buyer to take advantage of the Ragdoll Reverie Congenital Defect Warranty,

⚬     the seller must receive a copy of the necropsy report performed by a veterinary pathologist and all veterinary medical records that show a reasonable amount of effort was made by the buyer to treat and prevent the death of the cat/kitten.

⚬     The necropsy report and treatment documentation for the cat/kitten must be provided to the seller within 120 days of the cat/kitten’s death.

b.    The FIP Death Warranty covers FIP death from the date of birth through the cat’s 1st birthday, or cattery closure, whichever comes first. Upon closure, all warranties will be null and void on the date of closure regardless of cat’s age.

⬩     In order for the buyer to take advantage of the Ragdoll Reverie FIP Death Warranty,

⚬     the seller must receive a copy of the necropsy report, medical records, and treatment documentation for the cat/kitten.

⚬     There must be documentation showing that the cat/kitten was seen by the veterinarian as soon as symptoms appeared and if diagnosed with FIP, treatment began immediately after receiving the diagnosis. The current treatment is a prescription of GS-441524 over a 12-week period. FIP is almost always deadly when left untreated, so if the buyer chooses not to treat the cat, this warranty is null and void (see (see Warranty Rules and Specifics)

⚬     Treatment offer is null and void if the cat dies of FIP, as the buyer will receive another cat in lieu of monetary assistance.

2.     To be eligible to receive another cat, the medical records and necropsy report for the cat must be received within 120 days of the date of death as covered under the Congenital Defect Death Warranty and the FIP Death Warranty and only applies to the cat named in the signed contract.

a.     This allows veterinarian(s) and pathologist(s) time to submit the medical records and necropsy report to us (necropsy reports can take 4-6 weeks) and gives time for our veterinarian to review and explain the records/report to us.

⬩     Your vet and/or pathologist may require you to sign a waiver for the release of your cat’s records to our veterinarian.

⬩     If we do not receive the medical records and necropsy report within 120 days at no fault of the buyer, we will allow for additional time for the veterinarian and pathologist to submit the required records. However, there must be communication from the buyer regarding an eta and/or documentation from the veterinarian or pathologist showing the buyer has made attempts to check in and get an eta.

b.     The seller will make every effort to place a cat/kitten sooner than 120 days if the records and necropsy report arrive sooner and show that the death was a result of HCM, PRA, or PKD, or the disease FIP (and FIP treatment was attempted*).

c.      Once the cause of death is certified and proven to be a result of HCM, PRA, or PKD, or FIP, the process of assigning the new cat will begin, provided there are kittens of the same or similar quality, gender, age, color and pattern available, and those kittens have not been contracted to other buyers.

d.     The new cat/kitten may be up to the age of 18 months at time of placement. (see explanation below)

⬩     If the kitten was just shy of 12 months at time of death, for example, and an available kitten of similar quality, gender, age, color, and pattern is around the same age as the cat when he/she died, but we do not receive documentation for 120 days, this will cause a delay. Pickup/delivery arrangements could cause also a delay. This is why it could be up to 18 months old. Replacement cat will not exceed 18 months of age, but if we have a younger kitten available, we may consider a younger kitten. (This statement is to assure the buyer that the cat/kitten will not be older than 18 months at time of placement, and will most likely be under one year.)

e.      If no kittens are available and our dams are not expecting litters, we will notify the buyer of the next expected mating and discuss the timeframe in which they could receive their kitten.

f.      If the buyer, due to emotional distress of losing their cat/kitten, is not ready to accept a new cat/kitten, they may wait until they are ready but must not exceed 3 litters.

g.     Transportation for the new cat/kitten is to be arranged and paid for by the buyer and is not the financial responsibility of the seller.

3.     FIP Treatment Offer: If, in first year of the kitten’s life, the veterinarian determines to the best of their ability that the cat/kitten likely has FIP and recommends treatment for FIP using GS-441524, we recommend you move forward with treatment, and the FIP Death Warranty requires treatment to have been attempted to apply, as you can potentially save the life of your cat! We want to help you give the kitten the best chance of survival! So, If your veterinarian recommends FIP treatment using the GS-441524 prescription medication, the seller offers a one-time rebate of up to $300 toward the cost of the prescription only.

a.     The buyer must contact the seller within 24 hours of the FIP suspected diagnosis and treatment using GS-411524 must start immediately to be eligible for the FIP treatment offer.

b.     As breeders, we have connections to pharmacies and FIP support groups that can often get the medication quicker than your vet office, so calling us will save valuable time!

c.      All medical records, invoices, and prescription receipts must be submitted to the seller within 14 days of the start of treatment and must continue throughout treatment (12 week protocol)). If applicable, insurance payout amount must be submitted within 60 days of diagnosis.

⬩     Our offer does consider insurance payments in the final rebate total.

⚬     If the buyer’s total out of pocket expense for the prescription is less than $300, Ragdoll Reverie will pay the lesser amount.

⚬     If the buyer’s out of pocket expense for the prescription is more than $300, the FIP Treatment offer rebate is not to exceed $300.

d.     Treatment offer is a rebate offered by Ragdoll Reverie, is not sponsored by any pharmacy, pharmaceutical company, or organization, and will be paid following the conclusion of the treatment protocol upon receipt of all medical records and pharmacy receipts.

e.      FIP treatment with GS-441524 is offered for successful treatment, however, treatment is required to be eligible for the FIP Death Warranty. See below.

⬩     If the cat/kitten dies despite treatment, then the treatment offer is null and void and the buyer will receive a cat in lieu of monetary payment. In other words, if the buyer treats the cat and it survives, the buyer gets a rebate of up to $300. If they treat the cat and it still dies, the buyer forgoes the monetary rebate and will instead receive another cat. If the buyer does not treat the cat for FIP and symptoms were apparent prior to death, the FIP Death Warranty is null & void.

⬩     Payment will be made following the conclusion of the treatment protocol upon receipt of all medical records and pharmacy receipts.

4.    Non-life-threatening illnesses such as bacterial infections and viruses including, but not limited to URIs, FCoV, gastroenteritis, feline herpes, chlamydia, mycoplasma or illnesses (with the exception of FIP) that occur after placement date are not the responsibility of the seller and will not be warrantied. Keep in mind that nearly 99% of all cats carry some diseases passed down from great grandmother to grandmother to mother and so on, and they are often activated by stress. This is why so many cats, both purebred and otherwise end up having cold-like symptoms a couple of days after you bring them home. Of course, as breeders we try to socialize the cats so the transition isn’t so stressful on them, but sometimes it just happens and buyer’s should be aware that these are just common occurrences that are treatable, and in a short time your little companion will be back in good health!

a.     Keep in mind that common illnesses are also are transmissible by your other pets, at the vet, outside in a catio, or even brought in on your shoes from outside or from visiting pet owners.

5.     Surrendering the cat/kitten is prohibited without seller consent. Seller has first right of refusal, however, in most circumstances, we will help you find a safe and loving home.

a.     If the buyer must surrender the cat/kitten to the seller due to financial, physical or mental issues, or human allergic reactions within the first year, the seller will do whatever she can to help find a placement and, although not guaranteed, may possibly recoup some of the buyer’s money from the new owner. After the first year, recovering money becomes less likely.

⬩     The buyer is responsible for housing and caring for the cat until a new home is found.

⬩     If the buyer is unable to care for the cat due to physical or mental health while awaiting placement, the buyer may opt to board the cat with the seller at a cost of $25/day.

⬩     If the buyer has a trusted friend or family member to take the cat/kitten, they may give the cat/kitten to said person after notifying the seller, however, the seller has the right to contact the individual(s) prior to placement.

⬩     Transportation to Ragdoll Reverie for boarding and/or placement of the cat in their new loving home is at the buyer’s expense and is not the responsibility of the seller.

⚬     Warranties are non-transferable.

6.    Breach of this agreement, including declawing or allowing your cat to roam outside unsupervised, will result in the cat being ineligible for our warranties.

7.     Any lawsuits pertaining to this contract will be handled in the county of Saint Charles, in the state of Missouri. The seller’s maximum liability to the buyer for any and all losses, claims, damages, or liability of any kind shall be limited to the amount paid by the buyer per the signed contract under this agreement.
